ABOUT ALISON
Alison Sparks Johnson
During a particularly challenging moment in my career, I once caught myself thinking, “if only there weren’t employees … my job would be so much easier!” The irony? I was in Human Resources. No employees = no job for Alison!
I discovered it didn’t make me a bad leader… it made me a typical leader: Someone who spends more time trying to figure out how to influence, appease, motivate, align, (insert your verb-of-choice here!) other people.
Regardless of an organization’s size, industry, or geography, I passionately believe that the one differentiator between average and exceptional results is how effectively people work with others towards a common goal. My consulting practices focus on helping leaders and their organizations improve their results by making conversations, communications, and relationships more effective.
Over a 30+year career, I have had responsibilities spanning marketing, advertising, communications, and human resources functions, in roles ranging from individual contributor to C-Level Executive. I have worked in and consulted with companies ranging from multi-national, Fortune 100, to small, local non-profit organizations.
At my core, I love to laugh; I reflect this in my work and I tend to find humor in most things—especially my good-natured and good-humored husband, much to his chagrin!
Horsing Around
I am a dedicated equestrian, and I find that my experiences influencing 1200-pound, 4-legged animals translate directly to my work with 2-legged humans.
Every day, horses show up with their own feelings, attitudes, and interests that may or may not be aligned with mine!
